More food
I can buy almost anything American at grocery stores. However it is very pricey, so I limit my purchases. At all times my fridge is stocked with cream cheese, pepper jack cheese, strawberry jelly, and peanut butter. I haven't eaten peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for years and it's my favorite comfort food in China. Little restaurants and window vendors are also great for a quick bite. Many venders sell all kinds of steamed dumplings that are fantastic for snacks and breakfast. They are usually filled with chives, sweet red beans, sour cabbage, or seasoned meat. My school also has chefs, yes plural, who prepare pastries for snack in the morning and afternoon and served huge plates of food for lunch. The lunch menu varies from Chinese to American cuisine and is always fresh and so tasty. Last week we had chicken alfredo with buttery carrots and a creamy potato pea salad. It's so good. This week they just finished building a cafe in the cafeteria and they are now serving luscious cakes and coffee in the morning. I had my first cup today and it was amazing! As you can imagin there's no Dounkin Donuts or Starbuck on the way to work, so I've done without for the last month. That first sip was like heaven.
